Therapy

How it works

Background & Methodology

My work is grounded in relational psychodynamic psychotherapy, informed by training at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust in the UK, a leading provider of psychodynamic and psychoanalytic training. This foundation allows me to work with a wide range of emotional and relational challenges, from everyday stress and anxiety to more complex trauma and relational difficulties.

I have extensive experience working in the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK, supporting clients with complex mental health needs, as well as in university settings, where I combined a relational and psychoeducational approach to help students navigate anxiety, academic stress, and life transitions. My approach is trauma-informed, reflective, and relational, integrating insight into patterns of thoughts, emotions, and behaviours with practical strategies for coping and personal growth. Therapy explores both your current experiences and the underlying relational and emotional patterns that shape them.

I place a strong emphasis on ongoing professional development, including advanced trainings and regular clinical supervision, which ensures that my practice remains ethical, reflective, and responsive to each client’s needs.

I provide a safe and confidential space where you can explore the emotional, psychologic, and relational issues that may be recurring in your life and difficult to manage. My approach focuses on increasing your self-reflective capabilities and offering insights into how to initiate change. Through therapy, you can identify unhealthy patterns in relationships, recognizing their roots in the past and the unconscious dynamics behind them. This process opens the door to developing new ways of relating both personally and professionally.

How it Works Step by Step:

  1. Initial Consultation:
Before beginning your therapy journey, I offer an initial consultation lasting approximately 60 minutes, conducted over one or sometimes two sessions. During this time, we discuss your thoughts and reasons for seeking therapy. It’s an opportunity to explore whether this form of therapy aligns with your needs and if my approach resonates with you. This initial meeting allows us to collaboratively develop a treatment plan tailored to provide you with the support you seek.
  2. Therapy Sessions:
I offer open-ended psychotherapy with sessions lasting 50 minutes, scheduled once or twice a week. While I typically engage in long-term therapy, I am flexible and can accommodate short-term focused work based on your preferences and needs.
  3. Brief and Long-Term Therapy:
Whether you prefer brief or longer-term therapy, I adapt my approach to suit your requirements. I offer both online and face-to-face sessions from my studio in Milan (Porta Romana) and also outdoor sessions.
I receive regular supervision for the work I offer and I work along the code of practice of the British Psychoanalytic Council the Italian Association of Counselling.
