Are you an English-speaking psychotherapist in Milan?
Yes. I am a fully bilingual, UK-trained and licensed psychotherapist and professional counsellor based in Milan. I work with expats, international students, and professionals experiencing relocation stress, cultural adjustment, anxiety, low mood, relational issues and the impact of traumatic experiences. I offer therapy sessions in both English and Italian, ensuring you can express your emotions in the language that feels most natural to you.
Do you offer Online Therapy or only in-person sessions?
I offer a hybrid approach. I welcome clients in-person at my studio in Milan, but I also provide secure Online Therapy (via video call) for clients across Italy and abroad. Online sessions are effective for those with busy schedules or who prefer the comfort of their own home.
What is the difference between Talk Therapy and Somatic Experiencing?
Somatic Experiencing is a specific, body-oriented trauma therapy with its own training and methodology. In my work, I also pay close attention to how experiences—especially trauma, chronic stress and anxiety—are held in the body. This means noticing physical sensations, nervous system responses, and bodily signals alongside verbal reflection. We don’t only talk about what has happened, we explore how it is experienced, helping to support regulation, safety, and integration over time. Healing often involves both mind and body.
Is your practice LGBTQIA+ friendly?
Absolutely. My practice is a safe, non-judgmental, and LGBTQIA+ affirmative space. I have extensive experience supporting individuals with issues related to gender identity, sexual orientation, coming out, and relationship dynamics within the community.
How much does a therapy session cost and do you accept insurance?
My fees are in line with the professional standards in Milan. I provide a regular invoice. If you have private health insurance (international or Italian), you may be eligible for reimbursement depending on your policy. Please contact me for specific rates.
How do I know if this therapy is right for me?
Finding the right therapist is crucial. That is why I suggest booking a first consultation. It allows us to discuss your needs (whether it’s anxiety, depression, or personal growth) and see if we are a good fit. You can reach me via the contact form, via email at info@adanzitherapy.com or WhatsApp to schedule an appointment.
What is the recommended frequency of therapy sessions?
The frequency of therapy sessions depends on your goals, availability, and financial considerations. For most people, especially at the beginning of psychotherapy or counselling, weekly sessions are recommended. A weekly rhythm supports continuity and depth, and many clients start with a cycle of 10–12 sessions. For less urgent concerns fortnightly (every two weeks) or less frequent sessions can be a helpful option. This allows time to reflect, notice changes, and continue working on issues as they arise, while maintaining therapeutic support.
Is online psychotherapy as effective as in-person therapy?
Yes. Research and clinical experience show that online psychotherapy can be as effective as in-person therapy for many issues, including anxiety, stress, low mood, and relationship difficulties. A strong therapeutic relationship based on trust and collaboration can develop effectively online. The choice between online and face-to-face therapy depends on your needs, preferences, and circumstances.
Are you supervised?
Yes. I participate in regular clinical supervision, a core part of ethical psychotherapy and counselling practice. Supervision helps ensure safe, reflective, and effective work with a wide range of psychological and emotional difficulties. I have over ten years of professional training in psychotherapy and counselling, with experience both in private practice and in the National Health Service (NHS).
